Needle felting is a great way to add that extra touch using wool or wool roving on wool fabric and knits.  

By accident we found a new purpose for this tool.  Knitting Christmas stocking with acrylic yarn – using fairisle designs – the floats on the inside can be a problem. 

Using the Felting Tool and working from the knit side – the floats can be felted – eliminating the need for linings.  The knit side looks great and the under side is fuzzed so the floats adhere to each other to make a smoother surface to reduce the chance of anything catching. 

It takes about the same amount of time to knit a lining and attach it as it does to felt the designs but when you are finished – you have a lighter weight stocking that feels like knit instead of the bulk of the extra layer.
